The Rutland
The Rutland Hotel is a hotel in the West End, a former Edinburgh slum that is currently becoming a fashionable area. Prices are high, about 200 pounds per night, but the rooms are incredible. There are only 12 rooms, all tastefully decorated and all different in their own way. The street outside is Princess Street, one of the liveliest in the city, with many shops and things to do, but once inside the hotel it is quiet. When you enter the room, you are welcomed with muffins and water bottles, more commonplace in the UK, a kettle and some tea bags or coffee. The rooms have been upgraded and now include a place to put your iPod and play your music.
