Rumeli Fortress Museum
Another point on the itinerary of the cruise on the Bosphorus is Rumeli Fortress. it was built in 1452 by Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror in the narrowest part of the Bosphorus in order to prevent the passage of the Byzantine troops. It is amazing that this fort, of which only three solid towers remain, were built in only 4 months by a thousand craftsmen and two thousand workers. After the conquest of Constantinople, the fortress lost strategic importance and happened to be prison.
