The Pierpont Morgan Library and Museum, located in Midtown, Manhattan houses one of the most impressive global collections of artistic, literary and musical works ranging from Medieval and Renaissance periods to the present. In 1924, JP Morgan Jr. donated the wonderful library that belonged to his father to the public. Pierpont Morgan, besides being the most influential banker in this country, was a voracious collector and bought artwork of all types from all over including ancient manuscripts, rare books, drawings, prints, etc. The Pierpont Morgan Library and Museum has three buildings that have been remodeled and the private residence of the Morgan family.
