A moving experience
St Cuthbert's church is a small Presbyterian church in Edinburgh that you can see from afar. The gates open onto Lothian Road. Although it's not particularly ornate, it is one of the most important churches in Scotland. The real treasure here is the artwork. The engravings, windows, and pulpit are beautiful, and be sure to sign the visitors' book as you leave.
But I don't just want to talk about the church. For me I found the graveyard to be even more interesting. With huge, sad trees, the graveyard is a truly soul stirring place, where you can't help but feel moved as you look at the moss-covered tombstones.
There are ancient gravestones, mausoleums that belonged to wealthy families, plain slabs ... and beyond them is one of the most beautiful views of the city, with the majestic castle perched high on volcanic rock. It is a really moving place.
