Church of St Mary Magdalen
The church of St Mary Magdalen stands in Magdalen Street, a small side street just north of the historic center of Oxford that connects to the great shopping streets of St Giles and Cornmarket. It is an Anglican church that once stood just outside of the old walled city. A church has stood on this site since before 1074, although it has been rebuilt a few times. It was formerly St Frideswide's (the patron saint of the city), then Christ Church, and was finally renamed after Mary Magdalen in the nineteenth century.
