77 reviews of Grand Bazaar

Shop windows of the world

These are photos of shop windows taken throughout the world. This shop window is from Muslim countries and in them you'll see everything from fruit, gold, lamps, species, a little bit of everything. I like to show the world from my point of view and that's why I take these photos, that are like life itself. This shop window is dedicated to gold, lamps and fruits, fish and more. I hope you like my idea.

Intoxicating

The colors, the smells and the babel of nationalities is dominant in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. The variety of colors that the eye can see is amazing. The goods are perfectly placed in stores to attract and seduce visitors into spending their. The smell is perceived as varied and intoxicating that takes us into the world of the Arabian Nights. And the variety of nationalities that swarms by is intricate and makes streets.

No less than 4,000 stalls

The Grand Bazaar has no less than 4,000 stalls and miles and miles of halls and alleyways. In fact, it's sometimes hard to explore the entire thing as you always find yourself returning to the same main hallways. It doesn't matter, though, as this millennium-old market in Istanbul is a veritable Pandora's Box. Each turn reveals something you've never seen before. It feels like you're hypnotized and just pulled along by the market's seemingly endless wonders.

No place like it on Earth

The very center of the Grand Bazaar is still a small "bedesten" (marketplace) made of beautiful wood and mortar. The market is divided into zones: jewelers, carpets, food, handicrafts, and more. You can find just about anything but I'd suggest plenty of haggling and comparing prices before you buy anything. You can get some amazing hand-embroidered Turkish pillows for 50 euros, a good hookah pipe for 20 euros, and a pound of tea for 3 euros. Shopaholics beware, there's no place like it on Earth.

Markets

There are various markets in Istanbul, the Egyptian markets or spices. If you want something less touristy get lost around the streets of and enjoy being one in a million. Go to see it.
