Godzilla in Tokyo!
Ever since the first Godzilla movie premiered in 1954, Godzilla has become an icon of modern Japanese culture. The Japanese wanted to commemorate this famous (and, in Japan at least, benevolent) monster by building a monument near Ginza. I had heard about it and set out to pay a visit. After getting lost (which is not a difficult feat in Tokyo), I started asking people on the street for a Godzilla statue but only received puzzled faces...I just they though I was joking. Finally, we found it near the Imperial Hotel and it was somewhat smaller than I imagines. The statue itself is no bigger than two meters tall and is actually pretty easy to pass by without noticing.
