4 reviews of The Dragons Barracks Chapel

The one still standing

Excellent

This chapel is in the headquarters of Dragons. It is made from stone like everything else. It was was officially opened on February 2, 1801. During the British invasion of 1806 it was attacked and damaged and the least damaged was the chapel. Its exterior has a separate entrance and is topped by a cross of iron. This was appointed the Provisional Church until the Cathedral was built which is in the adjoining building. It remained in use until 1830 or 1831. In the entrance there is a baptismal font and after a couple of steps we can see a stone altar and a large crucifix in the background, to the left of it a wooden shrine carved depicting a paschal lamb.
