The Castellana Albarda

The first part of this route goes to Montserrat Monistrol, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Montserrat. We took the train, FCG Monistrol and then we headed to Plaça de la Font Gran, where the route itself starts. We walked up the Carrer de la Font to reach the Montserrat road. We crossed the road and continued along a wide path to the right. We continued until we reached the stairs to the road covering a steep slope, the road that runs parallel to the Via Del Zipper. We passed the upper station of l'Aeri and with stairs located along Zipper we accessed the Plaça de la Creu de Montserrat. We finished the first stage of the route and after resting a while, we started the second stage, namely the ascent to l'Albarda Castellana, situated in the district of Baix Llobregat.

The route follows the road to Sant Jernoi. In less than half-an-hour we reached the Pas del Francesos, a narrow passage between two large rocks where the stairs are very vertical. French troops passed through here when they invaded the mountain in the early nineteenth century. About ten minutes before reaching the chapel of St. Jerome, there is a path to the left marked with bright yellow/blue markings, which lead to l'Albarda Castellana. The Senderao is not marked with the name of this peak but with the name of Cami del Francesos/El Bruc Collbató. Before reaching the top we had to overcome two difficult sections, namely a large stone and near the summit, the road is traversed by a wall that we had to be climb over.
