Over 150 types of craft beer!
The Beer Garden is a beer shop and bar located on Calle Cardinal Cisneros, a small street which is quickly becoming a Mecca for beer lovers in the Spanish capital. They stock over 150 varieties of craft beer from around the world (along with one of the best sections of Spanish craft beers I’ve found in Madrid), and one of the things I liked most about The Beer Garden is that it seemed they eschewed a lot of the well-known British and American craft beer labels (Brooklyn Brewery, Sierra Nevada, etc.) for more obscure boutique labels, European classics like Mikkeller and Schneider Wiesse, and frankly a lot of interesting yet unknown beers like Japanese porters or Hawaiian coconut stouts. In addition to their ample and curious selection, The Beer Garden also produces its own natural craft brews, in this case an American-style Pale Ale and an IPA.
They sell bottles to go but also have a large selection in the fridge if you want to enjoy one right there in the store, something I highly recommend. The atmosphere is the store is great as it’s clean, well-lit, and usually has great classic rock’n’roll and Northern Soul playing on the turntable. The owner is nice and can give you all the information you need about the beers they stock and even recommend ones you give him an idea of your tastes. All in all, an awesome addition to the craft beer scene in Madrid!
