4 reviews of Thames Path

Extensive, urban and rural

The Thames Path is an official route that runs along the river bank for 297 miles from the source of the river in Kemble (Gloucestershire) to Thames Barrier at Charlton. Registered as an official route in 1996, it crosses London and much of Southern England while showing how colossal the Thames is in the center of the capital. I personally prefer the more rural areas but I like returning to the city from time to time. But this trek is charming because you cross through both rural and urban areas with hundreds of bridges that cross the river at different points. And, of course, you're never short of pubs when you need to rest and recuperate.

Breathtaking views of the city

In the heart of London, along the south shore of the Thames, there is a nice walkway passing by Tower Bridge, the Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theater, the London Eye, etc. It offers a breathtaking view of the city and St. Paul's Cathedral in Westminster. Great for both day and night. Lots of street artists.
