Family of hippos

Excellent

This beautiful lake is between long rows of trees and reeds, and is the home of many species of birds and a family of hippos. The expedition begins in a wooden canoe. We went out in search of these mammals! The hippos are used to visitors, but do not expect this behavior elsewhere! Despite their friendly appearance, hippos are very territorial and are the most dangerous among terrestrial animals of Africa. But do not panic! The guides know what they are doing, they know the places where they like to be hiccups and required clearances. As our guide while winks at me, "if you don't sneeze to loud, you'll be fine"...

Our only response is a nervous giggle. It's easier to see them during the dry season since the extension of the lake and the level of water is less, so this is the best time of year to visit them, no doubt. The best time of day is the early morning, so we like to stay at "Camp Farafina", get up very early and visit the lake before breakfast.
