Enjoyed it very much

No wonder this temple, or wat in Thai, is famous. You might get sick of reading this term if you travel to Thailand because it's the most visited in Chiang Mai. Taking advantage of a sunny day, we walked throughout the old city that's full of temples. We visited all the historical ones and we generally loved their accessible and full of life environment. Speaking of life, the Phra Singh was certainly the liveliest temple, meaning lion Buddha. He's the most revered of Chiang Mai and little is known of him. I remember the feeling I got when I went into the room and saw many people (mostly monks of all ages).

We spent a good time walking through the different corners, browsing the customs of its inhabitants, their prayers, etc.. The atmosphere invited us to be comfy. I enjoyed it very much, especially considering that yellow is my favourite colour and all its different shades flood this space.

Terrible experience!

Excellent

The main hall was closed for renovation. They were having a ceremony going on in the small temple, and we waited for nearly one hour to come and see the famous image. Most people were nice but one monk passed by and was quite rude to a tourist standing by the entrance, then entered the temple, took some photos with his phone and left...

After an hour witnessing attendants enter and leave the temple, receive phone calls and answer them, we were allowed to come in. We placed ourselves at a corner not even taking photos to be respectful witnessing attendants snatching up every item that had been sprinkled with holy water: incense cones, flower petals; tearing up cords to take a piece home...

One monk very nicely started a conversation with us and seconds later the rude monk appeared and told us to leave the temple because as foreigner we do not know their customs and may touch a monk( something we know us women cannot do) or even worse STEAL something from the temple or the ceremony!!!! It is a pity to see how some young monks can be so rude and so abusive of foreigners in this beautiful peaceful country.
