beautiful tasmania island
The island of Tasmania, Australia, is located about 200 kilometers south east side of the continent. A large part of the territory, approximately 40%, consists of natural reserves and national parks. Tasmania has one of the world's biggest areas of dolerite which forms mountains and cliffs. The combination of the various types of rocks found in this area, offer impressive landscapes that are not found in other regions of the world. On the island of Tasmania you can find some marsupials that are now extinct in Australia and New Guinea. The wildlife´s most famous specie that still live in the island is, of course, the Tasmanian Devil, that is today in danger of extinction and whose fame is followed by the tasmanian Tiger, a specie that is now extinct due to excessive hunting.
