Good Gin & Tonics in a Romantic Setting
Although it might sound strange, Tapas Gastrobar is one of the few Spanish restaurants in the old town of Altea. That's actually not so surprising given the cosmopolitan profile of visitors to Altea, and the restaurant scene in the old town (with some very notable exceptions) seems to be dominated by French and Italian restaurants whose cuisine is approachable and familiar to international visitors.
That being said, we didn't eat at Tapas Gastrobar (check out my profile for my recommendations on where to eat in Altea). We did stop in to enjoy some tasty gin & tonics on the terrace, though, and it was one of the most romantic moments of our stay in Altea. Tapas Gastrobar is set in a small, intimate plaza full blooming flowers and outdoor cafes. We chose a small candle-lit table under an orange tree and it was the perfect setting for a relaxing drink and quiet conversation.
