Small theater in Avignon
La Tache d'Encre, or speck, is one of the smaller theaters in Avignon. It is hidden behind the street of dyers and if not for a sign we would not have seen it. In Avignon, one once a year, theater invades the city during the time of a festival. The festival usually begins the first week of July and lasts 3 weeks. It costs a lot to get tickets to classical theater, tickets are sold-out in two weeks months beforehand. For this reason, and also to promote alternative theater, an "off" festival is held in small independent theaters like this, that offer contemporary works that are more accessible and inexpensive with novice audiences.
