Isla de Pan trail

I can’t say much more about Las Tablas de Daimiel that hasn’t already been said here… I really wanted to go and it didn’t let me down. Now that it’s full of water and life, rain was even forecasted for the day we visited (and a few drops fell).

Entrance to the park is free and without a guide. The main entrance is found 10 km outside of Daimiel. The Isla de Pan trail (route #2, marked in yellow) is the most popular, as it is nicely laid out on wooden planks. It takes you to the wetland, where you can see the birds an ducks (it’s much better to go in the morning or at sunset, when you’ll have the best opportunity to see the wildlife). We decided to go in the morning, due to the weather and the forecast of rain in the afternoon.

A natural paradise

It’s true that I didn’t have much luck in regards to the weather when I visited Las Tablas de Daimiel National Park, but, even so, this place was amazing. People have always told me great things about this national park, but it’s something you have to see in person, with your very own eyes.

Additionally, as it’s recently rained a good amount in the area, they’ve recuperated much of the water they lost during the ongoing drought.
I loved how well the park is set up for visitors. It has beautiful wooden paths where you can take some incredible pictures. Unfortunately, we didn’t cross many animals (probably due to the fact it was storming while we were there), but it’s one of the most amazing sites in the region.

Pure nature in La Mancha

This summer I had the privilege of being able to see the recuperation of one of the most beautiful, natural places in La Mancha: Las Tablas de Damiel National Park.

It was the first time that I visited this National park and it moved me to see how the locals explained that it was almost a miracle that there was water thanks to the recent rains. The effect of the drought are still substantial in some places, but with the resurgence of water, the wildlife has also comeback, once again filling the park with life. The variety of greens, blues, and browns is incredible.

Las Tablas is a truly unique place. It holds intangible beauty, it’s serene and hot. We went on one of the recommended hiking trails. There are other trails, some longer, and some designed for cars.
