Surf in Playa Grande
The beautiful Playa Grande is a well known part of the Leatherback Marine National Park. With its pristine golden coastline and clear blue sea, it is one of the best beaches on the Guanacaste coast. Located on the northern part of the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste, Playa Grande is home to the endangered Leatherback Turtles who come here every year to lay their eggs on the beach. Another good reason for visiting Playa Grande are the excellent conditions for surfing on the main beach. Playa Grande is much quieter than Playa Tamarindo for example, but the surf is just as good. In fact, according to many experienced surfers, the breaks and swells are consistent enough to qualify as one of the best surfing spots in the whole country.
