The walk to Stavali hut starts from...

The walk to Stavali hut starts from Kinsarvik and takes a minimum of 6 hours. The first half of the the route follows the Kinso river past four large water falls foaming with snow melt. There is a wide track to the first waterfall which has a HEP station at the top. The path then narrows, winding between boulders and through woodland.

At the fourth waterfall the path turns left away from the river climbing up sloping rocks smoothed by ice and water. At around 1000m you arrive at the plateau. There is still at least 2 hours walking to arrive at the hut, past lakes and over rivers, with occasional sightings of tiny wooden huts.

Finally the rust red painted walls of the Stavali appear on the horizon. The hut is staffed and has a cosy common room for eating, reading or resting. They offer cooked food, a choice between meat plate or porridge with local cider to drink. Alternatively you can use the kitchen to cook your own food. But best of all they have an outdoor hot tub, 100 kronor for 1 hour, money well spent.
