Statue of Everard ' T Tserclaes

Esta estatua o monumento es de esas cosas que uno puede o no puede creerse, pero que al final acaba haciendo, imitando a la ristra de turistas que previamente lo han hehco y han plasmado el momento en sus cámaras digitales. Está prácticamente en una de las esquinas de la calle Charles Buls que desemboca en la Grande Place, al lado de una placa enorme dedicada a Charles Buls. Es muy fácil de encontrar, porque hay una multitud de gente en la esquina haciendo fotos y tocando "algo". Es una pequeña estatua de bronce, como incrustada en la pared como en un enorme altar. Concretamente, está dedicada a Everard 't Serclaes, que se convirtió en un héroe para los lugareños después de dar su vida en el siglo XIV defendiendo la ciudad de Bruselas y los derechos de sus ciudadanos. Por ello se ha corrido la leyenda de que si se toca su brazo te trae suerte. (Hay quien dice que si se toca de arriba a abajo te casas y si se vuelve a hacer al contrario te separas.... Hay historias de todo tipo). Y por eso hay un montón de zonas relucientes debido a que miles y miles de personas la están tocando casi a diario en busca de suerte, lo que contrasta con los negruzco del resto del monumento. Una cosa curiosa que uno acaba haciendo, como en aquellas ciudades en las que dicen que si tocas una piedra volverás otra vez... Pues eso, que por si acaso, se toca, que no cuesta nada. Eso sí, a lo mejor os toca hacer cola en busca de la suerte.

Salimos de la plaza por la calle del lado del ayuntamiento hacia el Manekken pis, que se encuentra a poquita distancia y en esa misma calle, en la Charles Buls. Al pasar por debajo de la arcada de la salida de la plaza nos llamó la atención una estatua hecha en bronce de la que se dice que da buena suerte tocar el brazo. Se trata de la estatua de Everad´t Serclaes, ejecutado en el Siglo XIV mientras defendía Bruselas. Fue tallada por el artista belga Julien Dillens en honor al Señor de Cruyckembourg.
