Marilo Marb
Commemorates the apparition
The statue overlooking San Angelo Castle is impressive day but at night, I assure you, it seems to take life. The history of this statue is from when the epidemic struck, the Pope at that time, Gregory I, had a vision of the Archangel Michael on top of the castle sheathing his sword (meaning that the epidemic had ended). To commemorate the apparition he ordered a marble statue of Raffaello da Montelupo that was later was replaced by a bronze designed by Bernini, which is the present.
