Statua della Memoria e della Speranza

La statua si trova nei pressi della cortina del porto di Messina ed è stata realizzata nel 2013 dall'artista Jovan Vulic su commissione di imprenditori del messinese. Quest'opera in bronzo, poggiata su una base di pietra arenaria dei Nebrodi, è un monumento commemorativo dedicato alle 36 vittime dell'alluvione di Giampilieri del 1 ottobre 2009 ed in particolare all'ingegnere Luigi Costa, colui che sacrificò la sua vita per salvarne delle altre. La statua simboleggia la speranza, la rinascita dopo la tragedia: un fiore che sbuca fuori dal fango. Un fiore che vuole sbocciare e aprirsi al mondo.

The statue is located near the curtain of the port of Messina and was built in 2013 by the artist Jovan Vulic commissioned by entrepreneurs of Messina.
