Stams Abbey

We decided to visit Innsbruck, but not before going to see the Abbey of Stams, one of the most beautiful in Austria. Located in Silz amid one of the most beautiful places in Tyrol, this baroque building is in white and yellow colors that contrast with the snowy peaks and the surrounding vegetation. A Cistercian abbey founded in the 13th century by Elizabeth of Bavaria, it burnt down in 1593 and was rebuilt in the 18th century in baroque style. There were innumerable art treasures but during our visit the centre was in the throes of rehabilitation so we couldn't take photos.
