Scala di Santa Maria del Monte

Views of the Staircase

Excellent

This is a must, they are amazing. Located between Gela and Piazza Armerina, Caltagirone panoramically arises at the Erei mountain tops. It was strategically inhabited from the Neolithic and throughout the Bronze Age due to the control they had over the plains of Gela and Catania, up until the arrival of the Greek colonists as the rooms in the suburb of San Hipolito show.
