St. Paul´s Chapel Cemetery
The chapel was opened in 1776. This quiet cemetery has some important people buried there and some big monuments. You can find the Montgomery monument in honor of the first officer killed in the American Revolution, Richard Montgomery. Also, thhe statue of St. Paul, the monument to Dr. William James MacNeven, that of Thomas Addis Emmet, the monument to George Frederick Cooke and others. There are also the tombs of several soldiers. But what stands out most in this corner of Manhattan is the BELL OF HOPE. Opened on September 11 2002, by the church St. Mary le Bow, it is a symbol of solidarity on the first anniversary of the attacks.
