St Mary's Church
The church of Santa Maria is one of the most important buildings of the medieval village of Pedraza. It is located between the main square of the town and the palace and has a great history. Formerly it was one of the most important buildings of the place, especially at the time when the dukes had the power of the Cold. In this church all religious events were held. At present the state of conservation of this church is not very good but you can still get a very good idea of the majesty that this church must have had at the time when it was built. Among one of its most significant elements is the outer door, which still retains fifteen impressive carved stones.
Another element that have survived over the years is the tower, which contains the bell. Despite not being in a perfect condition, or maybe perhaps for this reason, the church of Santa Maria has a special charm. It is as if it could actually see the passage of time, since the rest of the buildings have been so restored that some seem to have been built a few years ago.
