St. Lawrence Chapel

Overlooking the estuary Cávado, this small chapel crowns the summit of Mount San Lorenzo, in Vila Chã. It was built in the fifteenth century, has a rectangular plan and a single nave. It is dedicated to San Lorenzo, whose image is over the altar. Its walls are covered in blue and white tiles. Here, a popular pilgrimage is celebrated in honor of the Saint, on July 21.
