Saint Jean Pied de Port Citadel

Looking excellent at the top of this beautiful walled city, the citadel was designed by the military engineer Vauban in the seventeenth century. The King of Navarre once lived in a castle located right on this spot, and later it was destroyed by the Spanish. A path leads to the "King's Gate" (Porte du Roy), to get through we will see a gazebo, where you can enjoy a nice view. In 1920 lost its military character. It currently is the location of the public school.
