A modern square
Located in the New Town of Edinburgh, St Andrew's Square was built along the same lines as Charlotte Square. But although they cover the same area, the two have developed in very different ways. Charlotte Square retains a classic style, while St Andrew's Square is more modern, with many financial buildings. In its center stands a column which holds the statue of Henry Dudas, who managed the business of the city from 1782 to 1805. Around the place are many stores and restaurants, including the chic Café Royal, a literary pub that has retained its authenticity since 1817.
