1 review of St Abb's Head

A nature reserve

Excellent

St Abb's Head is the name of a nature reserve which is close to the village of the same name, on the east coast of Scotland near the border with England. This nature reserve is built around rocky headlands formed from old volcanic rocks that date back 400 million years. This area has the distinction of harboring colonies of seabirds in very large numbers. About 60,000 birds live here, including herring gulls, cormorants, fulmars and puffins. It's a paradise for birdwatchers, and has been a protected site since 1980. A tourist center can be visited, and there are official hiking trails to follow.
