La centralissima piazza della SS Annunziata e' una delle più belle e forse meno notate dai turisti. Circondata da splendide navate sormontate da medaglioni attribuiti ai Della Robbia. Si dice che sono stati molti gli architetti che hanno messo mano alla realizzazione di questo gioiello nella Firenze Rinascimentale. Particolare la Loggia dei servi di Maria progettata da Baccio d'agnolo ed Antonio da Sangallo (il vecchio). Ancora sotto le navate vi è lo spedale degli innocenti, al centro invece la statua equestre di Ferdinando I°. Una curiosità la festa dell'annunciazione del 25 marzo in genere coincide con il capodanno fiorentino una delle feste più popolari del Comune di Firenze. Tale festa segnava l'inizio dell'anno civile fino al 1750, fu soppressa nel 1582 quando entro' in vigore il calendario gregoriano che fissava l'inizio dell'anno il primo gennaio, ma Firenze continua ancora oggi a commemorare il giorno 25 marzo, festa di Maria, come il proprio capodanno fiorentino.
