Southwest of the Dominican Republic
The southwest of the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is called "A Miniature Continent", the reasons are obvious. There is a rich biodiversity from the north to northeast through the center of the country where the vegetation is tropical however, if you visit the South Region you can see the climate change to prickly and dry, making it incredibly attractive. Because the island is crossed by mountains and the Dominican Republic has five of them, the winds bring heavy rains that bathe the east and center of the island. This gives it very distinct characteristics. If you take the road from Santo Domingo to the southwest to the province of Peravia, you can begin to experience these contrasting landscapes but also enjoy some beautiful beaches on the slopes of the mountains.
