2 reviews of Southwark

Famous in the Elizabethan period

Crossing the River Thames by Tower Bridge and walking west we came across a very nice neighborhood that was famous in Elizabethan times for its brothels, theaters and gambling houses. Today it has the Globe theater, the Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge (1st pedestrian bridge over the Thames) and has become an ideal place to walk.
