A popular holiday destination
About 25 kilometers south of Dumfries is the small village of Southerness, famous for its lighthouse and now a popular holiday destination, especially for camping and caravans. When we arrived I had a strange feeling of deja-vu ... it's a bit like the seventies, with dusty lanes and some hippies still floating about the place. The caravan park and campsite are very full, but there's also signs of more modern tourism, like a golf course, the hotel and the famous Paul Jones pub.
