Université Paris-Sorbonne

If you do a third year exchange with the University of Paris I Sorbonne, you may study at one of these beautiful buildings of the Place du Pantheon. The law school was built after 1770 by Soufflot, as a urban project around Sainte Genevieve church. At the same time, the Luxembourg gardens were constructed to add value to the site. The French Pantheon Street, now Soufflot Street since 1807, holds the faculty. Converted to a School of Council during the French Revolution, in 1805, it became the Sorbonne again. There is a large area in the Rue Saint Jacques, nineteenth and twentieth century when the Sorbonne expanded at a great rate.

The term sorbona (French Sorbonne) is commonly used to refer to the famous University of Paris. It's in the Latin Quarter, was founded in 1257 and is the best known of the French Universities. A Theologian Robert de Sorbon, got from the King a space that comprised of 2 houses and a subsidy so underprivileged students could study. The school was acquiring fame and so, in 1626, Cardinal Richelieu, made it a University.
