Operating steamboat
On the waters of Lake Mjosa, you will find the largest lake in Norway and you can have a look around the oldest steamboat in operation in the world. The DS Skibladner was believed to have been built around 1854. During our Norwegian pilgrimage as we were boarding, we were honoured to see a ceremony in which the Skibladner became part of the Road to Nidaros as transport for pilgrims travelling to Trondheim. This boat has routes between Gjovik, Hamar Lillehammer and Moelv. They don't go throughout the year due to the water levels, but from May and the summer season it can be used for transporting people or post.
