Sipacate

Sipacate is a beach on the Pacific coast of Guatemala. Leave your car in a parking lot and cross in a canal boat to reach the beach. On the beach there is a hotel, which was partially destroyed by Hurricane Stan in 2005, but which was rebuilt. Camping on the beach is allowed and free of charge. The beach is several kilometers long and there are no houses. Sipacate is located 140 kilometers from the capital city of ancient Guatemala and it takes about two hours to get through Siquinalá, on the road leading to Mexico, along the southern coast. It is a place where many people come to surf, one of the only ones in Guatemala.

The waves are beautiful. This beach can compete with the Salvadoran beaches, which are also only a couple of hours from the capital. It is super quiet, with beautiful sunsets. The restaurant is very basic but has good fish dishes. You can also rent a bungalow, with kitchen, on site to share with friends. The hotel also has a swimming pool for after surfing, which is very nice.
