imeon Building - Provincial Council Cultural Center - Train Museum

Apart from the monumental buildings that catch the attention of the Rua Progreso there is the Simeon building which is located between the Bishop and the Provincial Palace. It is a state building constructed in the late nineteenth century, which was once owned by the family Simeon Garcia (hence its name) and was formerly used as a textile warehouse. It has now been adapted to house the cultural centre of the Province of Ourense and the Train Museum. It has three levels, in which you have several exhibition halls, an auditorium, and Fernando Pacheco Outeriño train collection. This consists 4000 pieces and scale reproductions from the steam engine to today's high speed trains.
