2 reviews of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park

Shivapuri National Park (entrance)

This national park covers the entire northern part of Kathmandu Valley. This entrance is barely a 3hour walk from the city centre or just 30 minutes by bus. You have to go to a small city Sundarijal leading into the park. From there you have to climb up a very steep stairs for more than an hour. At least the scenery is spectacular from the start of the climb, otherwise those stairs would have seemed endless. At the top, a military post will let you in for 2 or 3 euros. I lost myself through those paths for 3 unforgettable, magnificent and spectacular days and then went back to pick up my camera. There it was in the military post pfufff, what a relief! This was the route in case anyone wants to repeat it: Sundarijal-Jhule Kathmandu-Nagarkot-Bhaktapur Kattike-walk, and from there a bus to Kathmandu in just a few hours ..
