Taking advantage of Shimonoseki in order to enjoy their freshest fish-globe, I used to stop by the Aquarium of Shimonoseki, called Kaikyokan (海 响 馆) with a friend. There, in addition to seeing several types of puffer fish in action, I enjoyed both local marine species in addition to many other species that were brought in from the most exotic locations. There is also a small area with dolphins, which hosts daily performances of dolphins and seals. Not the best aquarium in Japan, for example, Okinawa and Osaka are far better, but it can be an alternative if you are passing through the area.
