Shilbotel

Shilbotel es una aldea de Northumberland, muy tradicional y que apenas ha crecido desde su fundación, en la Alta Edad Media (unos 1700 habitantes y en descenso). Curiosamente, conserva su fuente, donde sus habitantes iban y no hace demasiado a llenar vasijas, botellas y otros enseres de agua, en el único lugar de la villa habilitada para ello. A pesar de su tamaño, hay tres cosas que no deben faltar en un pueblo o aldea típica de la campiña inglesa: su iglesia, su pub y su oficina de correos que hace las funciones de tienda local con un poco de todo pero sin abusar. Lo necesario. No hace falta dar muchas vueltas por la villa para toparse con su impresionante iglesia, que claramente justifica el nacimiento del pueblo en torno a la misma. Iglesia importante ya que hay pueblos mucho más grandes con iglesias no comparables a esta, bastante impresionante. Pero todo, iglesia y villa aparecen y se desarrollan por causa de la minería y el carbón. Llegando a su etapa clave en época victoriana cuando la villa y la parroquía se convierten en puntos claves de Alnwick, zona donde se encuentra la villa. Una grata sorpresa en un alto en el camino que para nosotros hasta ese momento era una locaclización desconocida.
