Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai

I stayed in plenty of hotels during my stay in Chiang Mai, but on my last night I decided to stay at the Shangri-La Chiang Mai. It's right in the heart of the city, and although it's a very luxurious hotel, it wasn't my favorite - it would be fourth in my personal ranking, behind the Chedi, the Dusit D2, and Le Meridien. It's not that it's bad, but it's just not as charming as the others. The decoration is similar to other Shangri-La hotels, with a very Thai theme.

The suites weren't great...I didn't like the overly oriental decor...made you feel like you were sleeping in a Chinese restaurant! My standard room had a fabulous king size bed, plasma TV and, best of all, large windows.
