Located on the popular State Street that leads from the capital to campus, this store’s mission makes it a worthy visit. Serrv is a non-profit, fair trade shop that sells original handmade goods. Serrv’s mission is to form direct relationships with artisans, seamstresses, and farmers in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and the US in order to alleviate poverty. Though Serrv is fairly new to State Street in Madison, the company has a long history. The company was founded in 1949 and was one of the first fair trade organizations in the United States.
