Area of high geothermal activity
In the south of Reykjanes the geothermal area comes to the surface through the crack in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which traverses Iceland diagonally from the southwest to the northeast of Iceland. Passing the lake Kleifarvatn we can discover the Seltun Geothermal Area, which is of high geothermal activity located south of the Reykjanes Peninsula (Iceland). An area full of solfataras, fumaroles, boiling mud pools and sulfur smell. This area is the most active in Iceland right now.
