Perfect place to find peace, relaxation and respect for religions

There are so many reasons to visit Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine Temple. First and foremost, it’s an amazing place to get away from the busy atmosphere that can be found in Los Angeles. It’s so serene and peaceful, and the perfect place to wade in or unload your thoughts. There are benches all around the area, including along the trail that goes around the lake; a chapel and temple; a Mahatma Ghandi memorial that contains some of his ashes; some waterfalls that are so calming to listen to; and a houseboat with 15 seats inside for meditating. (Shoes must be removed before entering the boat and cameras are not allowed inside.) There’s also a small gift shop and museum there.

Perhaps one of the best features of this place is the Court of Religions, which displays symbols of the five principal religions: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism. It doesn’t matter whether you subscribe to a religion or not when visiting the Lake Shrine Temple: it’s a great place to indulge in peace, to relax and to appreciate how respectful it is of various religions.
