Pedestrian bridge

This magnificent fifteenth century baroque style bridge was built entirely of stone to replace the former made of wood, which was devastated by the great flood of River Turia in the said century. Its name comes from the fact it was the natural entrance to the port of all goods arriving by sea. It was the work of famous Valencian stonemason Francisco Figuerola and was completed in 1596. It was reconstructed and reformed several times and has two types of huts, in one is La Virgen de los Desamparados (The Virgin of the forsaken) and in the other, a carved image of St. Pascual Bailon (this is the saint I ask to help me find things when I lose them and I promise him I will do little dance when they reappear, things one learns as a child and never forgets ...)

Since 1933 is has been a totally pedestrian bridge with large staircases and ten ogival arches that support it. One can also enjoy the Bridge of Aragon, who was the one that allowed the bridge to become pedestrian. Other bridges with towers that were once walls to the city of Valencia are the Serrano’ Towers bridges and the bridges of the City of Arts and Sciences.
