No, we did not find it. But the grave of the painter Diego Velázquez (you know, the wonderful painter who painted the blue color Madrid’s sky like no one else) was looked for quite a lot on this square. He was a member of the order of Santiago and has been buried here in the old church of Santiago.
However, the beautiful painting of Santiago on his white horse fighting during the legendary battle of Clavijo, work of Francisco Rizi (Spanish for Ricci), disciple of Carducho.
And thanks to the funeral mask made by this distinguished painter, Carducho, one can see the impressive realism of the face of Beata Mariana de Jesús, beautiful work of the sculptor Julián San Martín. You can find it on one of the altarpieces next to the gospel.
