Santa Lucía Chapel

La Capilla de Santa Lucía es un pequeño templo anexionado en el lado oeste de la Catedral de Barcelona, que comunica con el Claustro de la misma. Es de estilo románico tardío, con algunos elementos propios del gótico y portada rematada en espadaña. Era la antigua capilla episcopal llamada de las Santas Vírgenes en el siglo XIII, aunque en el siglo XVI pasó a venerarse sólo a Santa Lucía, patrona de las modistas y de la vista. Se construyó 30 años antes que la Catedral, y en ella están presentes las unidades de medida que se utilizarían para la construcción de ésta. La capilla es pequeña, pero tiene dos elementos sobresalientes, embutidos en los muros derecho e izquierdo de la iglesia: A la izda un arcosolio con el sepulcro del obispo Arnau de Gurb (fundador de la capilla), a la dcha el sarcófago del canónigo Francisco de Santa Coloma, coronado por un calvario tallado en piedra sobre un fondo de cristal azulado. Frente a esta capilla se encuentra la [poi=79931]Casa de L'Ardiaca[/poi], que alberga el Archivo Histórico de la Ciudad.
