The only X century church in Guipuzcoa
Also known as Ama Xantalen a Roman temple was discovered under the ground in the 70s, there is also a necropolis of incineration and 100 cremation urns. It is situated beside the old town of the city, and is the only X century church in Guipuzcoa. As with many seaside churches, the hermitage of Santa Elena has a boat hanging from the ceiling, to protect the fish. I must say that at that time, it appears that the sea came virtually to your door. To visit, you must book in advance at Oiasso Roman Museum. If you go with children, I recommend that you go on a Sunday and that you visit Xabi. A very nice guy that won the attention of all the children, even the young ones! We even had the privilege to go down to what was the hermitage chapel to see more closely the Roman remains.
