An old temple
Sanjusangendo (三十 三 間 堂) in Kyoto is a temple dating from the twelfth century and is quite famous for having 1,0001 images of the goddess Kannon, each one different from the rest. She is the Buddhist goddess of compassion and mercy, and there are many other temples with her image, like Fukusai-ji. Being close to the JR Kyoto Station and quite popular, there are usually many tourists, which does not diminish the "magic" of the moment you walk into the room where the sculptures can be seen. Unforgettable.
